    Description

For sale is this early engraving of a set of fish from a circa 1600-1750’s book. Why is this called an engraving? Long ago, having an image in a book required an artist to carve a reverse of an image into a copper block or wood piece. These would then have been dipped in ink and pressed with pressure into a thick page of hand made paper creating an image on the paper. This particular piece was printed onto a page that was included as part of a work on biology. This is an incredible leaf, and is an early example of one. This would make a great addition to any collection, and would look beautiful on display or as decor. Don’t pass it up!
