The Voluntary Examination of Susannah Woodward of Taunton in the County of Bristol Singlewoman taken on Oath before me Laban Wheaton Esq. one the Justices assigned to keep the Peace in and for said County who sayeth that she is with Child and that said Child is likely to be born a Bastard and to be chargeable to the town of Taunton in said County and that Abiather Austin of said Taunton is the Father of said Child prays that a Warrant may be issued to apprehend the said Abiather Austin that he may be dealt with relative to said Charge as the Law deals. Susannah Woodward. Bristol County. Taken signed and sworn to on the 27

    Day of November in the Year of our Lord 1801 before me Laban Wheaton Jus. Peace. [Seal] Bristol County. To the Sheriff of said County or his Deputy or either of the Constables of the town of Taunton in said County ----- Greeting. Whereas Susannah Woodward by her Voluntary Examination above written hath did say that she is with Child and that said Child is likely to be born a Bastard to be chargeable to the town of Taunton in said County and that Abiather Austin mentioned in said Examination is the Father of said Child and hath prayed cause against the said Abiather Then and There force in the Name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to require you the said Sheriffs and Constables or either of you are forthwith to apprehend the said Abiather and bring him before me or some other Justice of the Peace within and for said County to find sufficient Sureties as much for his personal appearance at the next Court of General Sessions of the Peace to be held at Taunton within and for said County and that he shall abide such Order or Orders as shall then and there be taken in pursuance of law in and for case made and provided.
