Delaware. Ann Jane Couper’s Friendship Album with a hand painted little scene of a beehive dated Feb 28., 1826 by one of her friends.Ann Jane Couper
, (1813-1877) daughter of Dr James Couper (1778–1839) and Hannah McIntire, (1778–1867) was born in New Castle County, Delaware (White Clay Creek). Her parents married in 1800.
Ann Jane Couper owned this Friendship Album believed while a student at the Wilmington Boarding School in Delaware.
Ann Jane
married George Kerr on April 23, 1844, in New Castle, Delaware. They are buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery in New Castle. They had one son James Couper Kerr (1853–1896). Her grandparents were James Couper (1734-1819) and Jane Eakin (1737-1807) who are buried in Pigeon Run Cemetery, New Castle. Ann’s great uncle was Rev. Samuel Eakin, (1745-1783) one of 12 chaplains to the New Jersey Militia in the Revolutionary War, preaching in his church in Penns Neck, Salem County, New Jersey.
