Description
1930s-50s guest book from the estate of Wilfred Mauck, who was at one point a section chief in a State Department agency, and held various government positions. There is a note that was found in the book saying he may have been a spy. There are 187 numbered pages, and maybe about 150 have signatures. They span from 1930s to 1950s with most of the more interesting signatures coming in the 40s and 50s.
Of note are at least a couple signatures of Helen of Tus, a nurse in Iran, along with her family members. There are military signatures, signatures of many visitors from other nations, and some of the earlier ones look to be college related.
I did see a signature of W. Robert Moore, a National Geographic photographer.
There is some damage to the spine cover and wear on covers.
