  • Model: Mighty 5
  • Modified Item: No
  • All returns accepted: Returns Accepted

  • Condition: Amp head is in good to very good condition....especially considering its age. The top handle is broken, but this amp has a cool feature of handle cut outs on both sides of the head, so you can carry it with two hands from the sides. (Which would definitely be safer.) The cab is a little more rough, I'd say in fair shape. The tolex is actually fine with the exception of some nicks here and there. But the grill cloth is very worn and frayed. Surprisingly, it is still intact and there are no holes in it. The wear does not affect the sound of the cab whatsoever. Another cool feature is a pair of cutouts on top of the cab that fits 2 inserts on the bottom of the amp head, so they "lock in" together when the head is on top of the cab....makes it harder for some drunk bloke to knock your amp head off of your cab ! Both amp head and cab will be cleaned thoroughly to the best of our ability before shipping to the lucky buyer.

    Description

Hello, up for sale is a very hard to find and terrific sounding tube amp stack by Ace Tone..the Mighty - 5 !
According to my research and from many other musicians on the internet, it sounds like Ace Tone was the precursor to the companies that we now know as Boss and Roland.
And as we know, as evidenced by the sound quality (and popularity) of the Cube series, the Katana amps, etc. etc., Boss and Roland know what they are doing when it comes to amplifiers.
But tube amps? I'm going to say they're not as well known for them. But this specimen, in my opinion, is a FINE example of tube amplification.....it sounds just like a good valve amplifier should !
With two power tubes and 4 preamp tubes (or maybe 3 preamp and 1 rectifier), this baby is probably closest to a Fender. (I know, it seems like every one compares their amp's clean tone to Fender.) But it doesn't really have the jangle of a Vox. And it doesn't break up like a Marshall Plexi does. You can turn up the volume fairly high, and the amp still remains nice, round and glassy clear like a Fender. It only starts to get to that sought after edge of break up sound when you get the volume knob to about 3/4. Any thing above 3pm, and it seems like the speakers start to "flub out". But it's plenty loud at that level. Quite a bit of headroom, so it makes a perfect platform for your effects pedals!
Grab this rare gem now before someone else does....you're probably not going to see it again (at least in stack format) for a long time!
NOTE: Unfortunately, at this time, the reverb and tremolo on this amp both do not work. We will try to get them back to work before shipping the amp, but cannot guarantee this.
Please read the condition description, these listing details and examine the pictures carefully.
Thanks so much for your interest and I hope you buy it now!!!!!
