    Immersion in the traditional art forms during his formative years has led Darryl to his unique style of ledger art. It is with great admoration of the original and historic works of pictograph art which inspired Darryl to choose this artform. While using a mixture of modern composition and historic and contemporary subject matter, Darryl has managed to blend the old and new into a style unique to his own. Winner of several awards including the "Jean Seth Standards Award" at Santa Fe Indian Market, Darryl continues to strive for innovation and excellence in efforts to represent his tribe, the Fort Peck Dakota, Nakoda and his ancestors to best of his ability. It is through his work in this Plains narrative tradition which he considers to be his most meaningful means to promote cultural continuity and identity.
