Johann Gottfried Cloeter (1741-1822) in Schwarzenbach an der Saale, who came from a Huguenot family.
A son of his, the pastor Flamin Cloeter (1790-1848), a pen pal of the poet Jean Paul, was the father of the pastor Samuel Gottfried Christoph Cloeter (1823-1894), founder of the emigrant settlement of Gnadenburg in the Russian Caucasus.
Johann Gottfried Cloeter is not named; but the handwriting was found in a bundle of letters from him; the content also makes it clear that the manuscript was written from the point of view of the owner of the hammer mill.
