I am a space enthusiast and worked as an aerospace engineer for NASA for 37 years and am selling some items in my collection.Offered for sale here is a Commemorative Medallion that was presented by NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. The medallion is in a plastic case and is approximately 1 ¾ inches (44 mm) in diameter, 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick and weighs approximately 1.7 ounces in the plastic case.
Also included are crew mission decals from the four Space Shuttle Missions that Bolden flew.
The key to the decals in the first picture is STS-61C, 31, 60, and 45 starting in the upper left-hand corner and going counter clockwise.
Charles Bolden was a Navy test pilot before being selected as a NASA astronaut in 1980.
He was the Space Shuttle Pilot on Missions STS-61C and STS-31 and he served as the Commander on STS-45 and STS-60.
He returned to the Marine Corps in 1994 after retiring from NASA and in 1998 reached the rank of major general. He retired from the corps in 2003. In 2009 President Obama appointed him as NASA administrator. He was the first African American to hold that position.
