    Description

In amazing original condition! Fresh from the estate of the original owner who never gigged out with it!
Kustom Head model K250-1 -- solid state 250 watts, 2 channels 4 inputs (125 watts at 4 ohms).
    Kustom Cabinet model 1-18B-1 -- 18" folded horn (rear-facing) 3.2 ohms 150 watts RMS.
Both pieces have been paired together since their original purchase in 1972. They were tested and are fully working beautifully - no issues nothing but clean solid state BEASTLY STRENGTH. Was also checked out by the renown "Eclipse Music" store here and nothing was done because nothing was wrong! All inputs tested, knobs, etc. No rattling issues with plywood cabinet, which is believed to contain the original 18" speaker (CTS?) but haven't opened it yet (the speaker is rear facing so opening the back would likely not reveal the brand/model without additional disassembly). Cosmetically its super nice from top to bottom there isn't much to complain about except one minor cigarette burn on top of head (not very noticeable didn't burn all the way through naugahyde) and a 1" rip on back of cab (both are photographed here). Caster wheels and side handles are all original and functioning well. Wheels have some minor rust, both handles still have both black plastic grips on them which is amazing since these crack and break easily with age. Amp power cable is original but there is some spider poop on it. The back and under sides of cabinet look good enough to eat your breakfast on (closeup photo of underside has light glare in the corner this is not damage). The blue Power and Polarity toggle buttons still light up. The amp face could use a cleaning we only dusted it. The charcoal/gray sparkle tuck and roll naugahyde is very bright, clean, and tight all around. Original speaker fabric is also still tight - the upper portion looks fine, the lower portion has some discoloration near the bottom possibly from a spilt beer. Think about all the hard rock abuse this rig *should* have received all these years but the damage is essentially one cigarette and one beer.
Highly debatable of course but these are thought to be one of the finest solid state bass rigs made in America during the 70s - no doubt this is an iconic rock & roll design. The "Heavy Duty" folded horn 1x18 cabinet is quite scarce these days,
this model was only manufactured for a couple years (1971-1973)
and usually they've been trashed and rebuilt. It is tall, very heavy (over 150 pounds) and will rattle your teeth out but the solid state 4-ohm sound is as clean as it gets.
Kustom was founded by a bass player and their bass rigs
    were not messing around.
Original retail price of this 1-18B setup in 1971 was 5, inflation adjusted that would be 70 today!
Available for pickup only in the Minnesota Twin Cities Metro Area. Please get in touch with any questions or photo requests thank you.
