    Description

    Original circa 1917 produced World War I poster by the title 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE 3e EMPRUNT de la DEFENSE NATIONALE'.  The poster depicts a statue of Marianne as a national symbol of the French Republic personifying a beacon of strength and liberty leading troops to defend France.
    The poster was printed by Draeger utilizing the color lithographic process from artwork done by M. Lelong of France.
    Approximate poster dimensions are 31.5"h x 47"w.
    There are no stains or areas of discoloration.
    Condition issues include edge tears on the border area with the two largest measuring approximately 2.5" in length and the second measuring approximately 2" in length which extend a little into the plain area of the body of the poster on the right side.  There is a bit of loss on three corners.  There is a small tear and a tiny tear, both on the upper right side of the body of the poster.  There are several surface crease lines.
    This poster is an original World War I poster of the period and is not a later copy, is not a re-issue and is not a reproduction.  This poster has never been offered for sale before this time having been part of a collection put together quite a long time ago.
    This poster is in the condition as it was found unmounted and unbacked having been stored away for many years.  I have not repaired, restored or tampered with the poster in any way.
    On some computer monitors the images seen in the listing may appear to show the colors of the poster to be muted or there may be a shine seen which is a reflection from either the camera flash or light but in actuality the colors of the poster are of even tonality.
    For ultimate protection a preservation sheet of transparent neutral ph glassine will be rolled together with the poster, placed within a wrapped plastic bag for extra protection and sent within a high quality exceptionally durable Yazoo Mills shipping tube.  Please be assured that I package as carefully and securely as possible so that you will receive the poster in the condition as described in the listing.
