Original WWI "Daddy Bought Me Government Bonds" 3rd Liberty Loan 1917 PosterLarge 40" x 29" World War II US Government Printing Litho Co.
original propaganda cardboard poster. Please note this is not a paper poster, but printed on some kind of sturdy cardboard, about a quarter of an inch thick.
Some age spots, fading and creasing throughout.
Charming poster featuring a beautiful, rosey cheeked young girl, lovingly embracing her Liberty Bond. A Liberty Bond was a war bond that was sold in the United States to support the allied cause in World War I. Subscribing to the bonds became a symbol of patriotic duty in the United States and introduced the idea of financial securities to many citizens for the first time. These posters appealed to the patriotic in every citizen, including the elderly and the young. And, in case that didn't work, the graphic images of children, women and of the enemy were common to get citizens on side to ration their money and spend it on the war.
