    Description

Original WWI "Feed A Fighter, Waste Nothing" US Food Administration Vintage 1918 Poster
Large 29" x 21" World War I United States Food Administration
original propaganda poster. Plastic wrapped with cardboard backing. I have not taken it out of it's protective covering since I acquired it, but it looks to have some tearing and
    discoloration
on the right side edges, as well as some creasing where it was folded, general age wear.
"Feed a fighter - Eat only what you need - Waste nothing - That he and his family may have enough" The message to the domestic population in this poster by New York-based artist Wallace Morgan (1875-1948), was to conserve food and waste nothing so that all fighters and their families could be better taken care of. Morgan was one of a handful of artists selected by General Pershing to create posters during the War and they were provided with broad access to the soldiers in the fields, hence the very realistic portrayal of the fighter in this poster.
