Pictured as is.
Large 29H" x 21W" World War I United States Food Administration
original propaganda poster.
Plastic wrapped with cardboard backing. I have not taken it out of it's protective covering since I acquired it,
but it looks to have some wrinkling here and there
and small tears around edges. Doesn't look to have been folded.
This image shows a famished family suffering from the ravages of World War I. The poster implores food conservation.
Poster markings:
HUNGER
For three years America has
fought starvation in Belgium
Will you eat less-wheat
meat - fats and sugar
that we may still send
food in ship loads ?
UNITES STATES FOOD ADMINSTRATION
No. 12
and the resulting food shortages.
The poster was created by the American artist Henry Raleigh (1880-1944) to encourage the American people
to consume less food every day so that the United States will have more food remaining to send to Belgium
to stave off the famine. It is a most noble cause that resulted in great conservation efforts in the United States.
