    Description

    RARE GOLD ILLUMINATED QUR’AN LEAF FROM OTTOMAN ERA (1788):
    This is a beautiful handwritten
    Quran
    leaf from an old manuscript copied in
    Egypt
    long time ago. It is
    undated
    but a previous owner’s
    seal
    is dated
    1203 AH
    (
    1788 AD
    )
    and his name is
    Khazendar Osman Aga
    (the treasurer of
    Ismail Beck Ismail
    )
    ; and I am sure is
    more than 300 years old
    . Unfortunately, the last leaf was dilapidated and the
    exact date vanished
    .
    This is
    1
    leaf with
    2
    pages and represents verses from
    Sura Al Waq'iah
    (
    The Event
    )
    . The text is framed within a
    real gold
    frame. The
    dots
    between verses are pure gold as well.
    It is written with beautiful Arabic calligraphy.
    The leaf is in good condition and show minimal damage on the borders. Some
    ink blotches
    and some
    dirt
    as well. Foxing is not serious and minimal worming.
    It measures 23.0 cm x 16.0 cm.
    You
    get
    exactly what you
    see
    on the scans.
