African American soldiers with swords and bayonetted rifles attack German troops under the Stars and Stripes. With portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the upper right looking on serenely with approval with a paraphrase of the Gettysburg Address and a facsimile signature.
With caption, "Colored Men, The First Americans Who Planted Our Flag on the Firing Line."
An uplift poster honoring the 200,000 African Americans who served in combat roles. One of several commissioned by the Committee on Public Information under the direction of George Creel.
This is framed under heavy glass.  Frame
measures approx. 18" x 22.5".   Poster measures 16" wide x 20" long.
There are tears along the edges as pictured and also some creases in it from where it was folded at some point.  This is an authentic 1918 poster and extremely rare and hard to come by.  Its condition is appropriate for its age.
