    Description

One of the more difficult amplifiers that I have ever worked on! It's not that it was that complicated by nature but the way it was laid out was rather confusing and difficult to trace, even with the schemo.
It took me about 3 days of work, day-and-night to get this thing back to its original working condition. The only thing that I did not change was the power tubes which I wasn't able to get in I wasn't able to get in short order. It would certainly probably benefit from getting a new set of those which are reasonably cheap.
Page used this amplifier on the 1st 3 Led Zeppelin albums and I can see why!  There is a really interesting variety of tones and they all seem to scream rock and roll. The amplifier is not really loud, but loud enough, and the jensen 15" was an excellent choice for getting the largest variety.  The Tone pots are just insane! They are basically flat in the middle, but as you move to one side the treble becomes more pointed and bass rolls back, as you move the other way bass and low mids come up, and treble rolls back, seemingly sweeping over to mids, with a very spacey driven sound that sounds a bit like the classic open wah sound of Knoppfler and Brian May!
That's part of the magic... but there are some crazy things going on in this little thing!! As i was sweeping and scoping it,  having problems with everything, i found that the harmonics produced by the overdrive in this amp were VERY rich in octave tones!! Indeed,  earlier today i was playing with my neck pickup with the tone circuit muffed and was getting great OCTAVIA tones organically! But also there was a low octave follower AS WELL, that is just harder to distinguish.  I heard it very plainly early on, but not much else at that time... as the amp took some work!
I was able to get all the functions and tones back to their designed sounds... and it is an awesome little tone monster. I got it from an older couple, and it never saw a single gig. It has the original hang tags and slip cover, and came with a single pedal for the trem... and by the way,  the trem and verb are also amazing.
This amp has been painstakingly restored... using higher quality coupling caps... and in the reverb unit, i even used a 100 year old mica cap, as it sounded the best! All original... amazing tone... built to last! Guaranteed to not be DOA, but by its very nature that’s as much as i can do. But enjoy this amazing find at this price quick, because i foresee these becoming very hot items, once a few working models are heard. Tons of rock history in these! It's the sound you always wanted your Marshall to make, without destroying the tone and dynamics (and eardrums)... great recording,  and you can mic it and gig with it too! Endless possibilities!
    Thanks for looking!!
