Modifications and Upgrades:
The original, 8” Jensen speaker has been upgraded to a Ted Weber Signature Series.
The “death cap” has been removed.
The original, 2 prong, power cord, has been replaced with a much safer, 3 prong cord.
This amp is fully functional. It idles very quiet. There are no unwanted humming, hissing, or crackling noises what-so-ever. The volume pot is smooth turning and produces no scratchy sounds at all. The fact that this amplifier is so quiet at idle, means that it is perfect for studio use and as a recording amp. It is also great for use, as a gigging amp, at smaller venues.
This Gretsch has a wonderful tone and can get quite loud for it’s small size.
The smooth coned, 15 watt speaker, provides for a little earlier breakup than a ribbed cone.
If you want an authentic, early 1960’s sound, then this may very well be the combo amp that you have been searching for.
Condition:
There are some signs of wear, which is normal for a 57 year old amplifier. Signs of wear can include: rust, abrasions, cracks, discoloration, dents, staining, and tears to the fabric.
